BAM!!! 5 months have flown by!✈️🚁🚀

Seriously! This has been the wildest ride I’ve ever been on! I mean, who else feels the same way?!? I wake up in the morning and look forward to weighing myself. I guess because I have been inching toward the 100 mark and the “final frontier” of Onederland! I haven’t weighed in the 100’s since I was at college. For real! And that was a good 24 years ago.😞 but I am happy to say… At my 5 month weigh in… I hit 199 pounds. WOOT!😍 I did it! Can I tell you how happy I am about that?!? Flipping thrilled!😜 so here are the actual stats…

  • Starting weight May 5, 2015: 300
  • May 18, 2015: 270 (-30)
  • Month ONE – June 5, 2015: 260 (-40)
  • Month TWO – July 8, 2015: 239 (-61)
  • Month THREE – August 5, 2015: 225 (-75)
  • Month FOUR – September 5, 2015 210 (-90)
  • Month FIVE – October 5, 2015 199 (-101)

That’s an 11 pound loss since last month. That’s pretty dang great, especially at 5 months. I fully expect a slower pace to lose the last 49 pounds. But… 150 is just a random number I pulled out of my butt. I am 5’8″ so I really don’t know what to weigh. I think I’ll just go until it feels right. Most importantly, I want a healthy BMI. I’m comfortably wearing a size 14 yet my BMI still says I am obese. What the heck?!?😳 That’s kinda insane. So, I’ve lost 100 pounds. What does that really look like? Here are some things to compare 100 pounds to:

  • 1 two-month old horse
  • 2 bales of hay
  • 4 average sized 2 year olds
  • 5 automobile tires
  • 18,000 quarters
  • 400 sticks of butter
  • 25 ostrich eggs
  • 12 gallons of water
  • 1 Hellfire Missile
  • 3 cinder blocks
  • 20 two-liter sodas
  • 1 baby hippo

LOL! That’s a lot of weight! 😳 I think I already told you that I wake up every morning about 4:30-4:45 and workout. I have an elliptical in the guest house so I generally head out there and hop on. I watch an episode of Bluebloods and then start my day. Well, about 3-4 weeks ago, my sweet Mama gave me an early birthday present. I now have a Weider Body Gym. It’s similar to the Total Body Gym that Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley promote… just way less expensive. I now have added 4 days of strength training. So my workouts now look like this…

Monday: legs, chest, back, and 20-30 minutes of cardio

Tuesday: shoulders, biceps, triceps, and 20-30 minutes of cardio

Wednesday: 45 minutes (or however long the episode runs) of cardio

Thursday: legs, chest, back, and 20-30 minutes of cardio

Friday: shoulders, biceps, triceps, and 20-30 minutes of cardio

The weekends are not scheduled for specific training… But generally we do end up walking or doing yard work, so there is definitely movement of some sort. Life is good. I love the added energy I have and the more positive outlook I have on life. When I went to see my surgeon yesterday… He was thrilled at my progress. He said it was patients like me who LISTEN and completely follow plan (regardless of the scale) that make him the happiest. Yay me! I told him that money is the great motivator. Plus, I like the way I look and feel! He said I wouldn’t believe the number of patients who wander off track thinking they can “handle” things their way. There was a lady in the waiting room with me. She was sharing that she had previously been a lap-band patient… but it “didn’t work” for her, so she had been revised to the sleeve.  I asked her how it was going for her and she said, “better, but I’m still not losing weight very well.” Come to find out… She was eating tons of slider foods, carb laden foods, drinking with meals… ALL the things they teach you not to do. She asked me how I was doing. I felt bad telling her I had lost 100 pounds in 5 months. She was almost angry. She said maybe she was doomed to be fat. I sorta cleared my throat and told her, if she would follow the plan religiously and abide by the rules, she would lose weight. It may be at a slower rate but it works. She told me that she couldn’t live a life of depravity. I just shrugged and told her I don’t feel deprived. I feel fabulous. She just doesn’t get it yet. Sad.
